Climate Neutral Group gives you the guarantee that any carbon credits that you purchase will truly help to reduce CO2 in the atmosphere. Each credit represents a verified reduction of 1000 kilograms of CO2 in the atmosphere, also called Verified Emission Reductions (VER's). We also consider it important for our projects to promote local development in developing countries. This is why we ensure that all our carbon offset credits satisfy the most rigorous international criteria:
Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS)
Gold Standard (GS)
Climate, Community and Biodiversity Standards (CCB, supplemental to VCS forestation projects)
CDM Standard
Click here for a detailed description of the standards.
The above standards use internationally recognised quality criteria. Some conditions a project must satisfy are:
- Additional: financing by means of carbon credits is essential for the carrying out of the project, i.e. the project would not have been established without financing through carbon credits.
- Measurable: the quantity of emission reductions has been determined according to internationally adopted methods.
- Permanent: emission reductions (or absorption of carbon dioxide in the case of forestry projects) are irreversible. For afforestation projects it must be demonstrated that the forest will survive for at least the coming 99 years.
- Verifiable: all our projects are monitored and additionally verified by an independent certifying party with the required local and sector-specific expertise.
- Contribution to local development: Climate Neutral Group considers it very important for its projects to promote sustainable development of the local community. This can be done, for example, by creating jobs, providing access to energy, and improving living conditions and healthcare. These are issues that weigh heavily in a decision wether or not to invest in a project.
